Project Pwet

This was a joint brief that I worked on with Jude Whippey as part of our practice as Studio Haluhalo. We aimed to answer the question: "What are the traditions and values that keep us connected to our Filipino culture and heritage, and how might we pass them down to future generations living in the UK?" We focused on three main pillars of Filipino culture: language, community, and food. Below are my personal outcomes that demonstrate my interpretation of these pillars.

Language

Inspired by Filipino humour, I created a flashcard set that teaches the audience Filipino slang in a fun and interactive way.

Community

Through mixed media illustrations and zines, I aim to highlight the things you'd commonly see in a Filipino party, while capturing capture the feeling of joy, togetherness and belonging.

Food

I created a range of products that evoke memories of the nostalgic Filipino food and snacks that myself and many other Filipinos grew up with.

PWET Maqazine

A vibrant anthology created by me and Jude Whippey that celebrates Filipino values and traditions to inspire future generations of Filipinos living in the UK. Hand-crafted and printed in using risograph, making every copy unique.
