Creative Lab Residency

Creative Lab is an art school and studio space situated in Salford. As a resident artist, I created a body of work that includes zines, mixed media paper illustrations and paintings. I had the opportunity to design and facilitate a range of workshops including paper collage, zine-making, character illustration and expressive mark making.

Collaged Connections Workshop

This zine-making collage workshop focuses on fostering bonds and friendships among people of colour (POC). A safe space for discussion that invites participants to explore their shared experiences and mutual understanding as people of colour surrounding the theme of joy. Everyone left with a zine inspired by conversations - a tangible reminder of the bonds we had built and the creativity we shared, with a focus on friendship and joy as an act of resistance.

Odd Creatures Workshop

This workshop taught participants how to use paper as an illustration technique combined with other materials to create their own creature character. They were encouraged to use their imagination to give their character a name, a backstory and imagine the world they inhabit. By the end of the workshop, each person had a a one-of-a-kind creature, along with the skills to continue exploring paper craft and character design on their own.

I also created a window display to invite passersbys to participate in the workshop.
